11 Global Restaurants Arrive at Kowloon Bay’s Telford Plaza This Summer

Telford Plaza in Kowloon Bay has just dropped a dining lineup that turns the suburban shopping centre into a serious food destination. With over ten distinct restaurants now open, the mall is covering everything from high-end Cantonese banquets and Korean barbecue to artisan tonkatsu and American gourmet burgers.

The new F&B wing, launched in July 2025, is designed to cater to the area’s growing mix of office workers, young families, and residents. Instead of travelling into the city centre for a diverse meal, diners can now find Michelin-calibre Chinese alongside trendy Korean imports and authentic Southeast Asian fare—all within one sprawling complex.

Chinese Classics & Korean Newcomers

Traditionalists are well served. Lei Garden brings its decades-long mastery of haute Cantonese cuisine, offering set menus that feature luxurious ingredients like abalone and bird’s nest, perfect for multi-generational celebrations. Nearby, Beijing Kitchen lets guests experience the theatre of expertly carved Peking duck, alongside the lesser-known but highly praised “Fortune Chicken.”

Across the stylistic spectrum, the Korean wave hits hard. Terrace in Seaside, an Incheon-born cafe concept, transports visitors to a Jeju orchard with its wood-and-plant interiors. The menu leans heavily into Instagram-friendly plates: fluffy waffles, cheese-laden fried chicken, and citrus yoghurt. For those craving smoke and sizzle, Jeju BBQ delivers a hearty Korean grilling experience, with its pineapple-marinated Wagyu short rib emerging as an early crowd favourite.

Japan Takes Centre Stage

It is Japanese cuisine, however, that forms the heart of the new selection. Butahage brings an 80-year-old secret sauce recipe straight from Hokkaido’s Obihiro region to its gold-medal winning tonkatsu. Ramen devotees face a difficult choice: METRO Tonkotsu BASE offers a scientifically crafted Tonkotsu broth with low-temperature cooked chashu, while Jiyuryu breaks convention with its “freedom style” ramen—featuring both a rich Tonkotsu and a creamy Chicken Paitan alongside vibrant poke bowls.

Chisoya provides the complete izakaya experience, helmed by a Japanese chef who flies in fresh sashimi from Fukuoka daily, and finishes with a luxurious Wagyu sukiyaki over Inaniwa udon. For interactive dining, Niku Niku Rice offers front-row seats to its open kitchen, where staff sear patties of Kyushu Wagyu at the table.

Western Comfort & Southeast Asian Soul

Rounding out the roster, b.o.t.h By Texas Burger brings proper gourmet American fare—think Texas BBQ cheeseburgers and crisp-crusted New York-style pizzas, with a solid plant-based option. Asam Chicken Rice delivers Southeast Asian authenticity with its silky Hainanese chicken rice, rich laksa, and punchy Penang prawn noodles.

A New Standard for Suburban Dining

This aggressive expansion signals a clear shift in how suburban malls are positioning themselves. Telford Plaza is no longer just a shopping stop—it is a dining destination designed to hold its own against Hong Kong’s established food neighbourhoods. For the busy office worker, the family looking for variety, or the foodie chasing a specific ramen or tonkatsu fix, the distance to Kowloon Bay just became irrelevant.

Reservations for dinner and weekend services are highly recommended across the new outlets. Whether it’s a quick steaming bowl of ramen or a lavish banquet, Telford Plaza just made Kowloon Bay a lot more delicious.
