Update (February 2016): Zelos is now closed and replaced with Plat du Jour. I’d say it’s a good thing!
Do you sometimes feel you’ve had just three too many fatty meals in a row and insecure as to whether your food baby will become a permanent part of you? That usually calls for a super clean and nutritious meal to get rid of the guilt. That’s exactly what motivated me to Make Healthy Mondays a Habit and also prepare more healthy lunch boxes on other weekdays. But when I really don’t have time to prepare a meal, instead of preparing to fail, I go to one of my healthy outside lunch options.
Typical healthy options in Central:
- Salad box from M&S
- Salad or sandwich from nood food
- Salad or sandwich from Pret-a-manger
- Make your own salad at Marketplace (Jardine House)
But to be honest, these options often leave you feeling as if you didn’t eat anything at all.
So I was looking for a more luxurious option the other day and thought of Zelo Spanish Restaurant & Tapas Bar. Their salad bar is the most comprehensive I’ve seen in my life. They have everything you’d want in your salad, with avocado being the only exception. Think all sorts of leaves, smoked salmon, eggs, onions, peppers, beetroot… the list goes on for an A4 page.
They charge HK$180 for the salad bar option and just a bit more if you want to add a main course too. The price is not very cheap but they have the ingredients to make an excellent salad, drink some soup and end on fruits too. I had main course once as well but it was definitely too much and didn’t taste as great as the salad bar items anyway.
Zelo Spanish Restaurant & Tapas Bar is located right when you get out of the MTR exit for Pacific Place: Shop 007, LG1, Pacific Place, 88 Queensway, Admiralty. Phone: 2918 1028. You can make reservations but it’s not essential during lunch hours.
