Update (11 May 2016): The event has unexpectedly been cancelled. – If you’re looking for a place to be on a Saturday, and hiking isn’t really an option (because the weather has been so volatile), take yourself to PMQ and chillax with good vibes, music and (most importantly) a lot of good food. P.S. The area is sheltered from the rain! What? Food stalls (which change every two weeks), music, a place to chill for the afternoon When? Every Saturday 12-7pm from 23 Apr – 11 Jun 2016 Where? PMQ – The ‘alley’ behind Bread & Butter cafe, Central. Just to avoid confusion, it’s not at the usual open area in the middle. Price? Mr & Mrs Fox: New Epic Brunch in Hong Kong

I love epic brunches so much that I once created my own at home. It consisted of Thai style satay fish & chicken tacos, homemade meatballs, parmesan skillet eggs and berries and cream waffles… Plus fresh orange juice and coffee. It was nothing short of epic. But a HK$900 shopping trip at City Super, 4 hours of prep and 1.5 hours of cleaning later, I concluded that paying HK$1000 for an epic brunch out IS worth it. It’s true, I have paid HK$1000 for brunch before. But if we take a step back, there are definitely many less OTT brunch options in town and the one at Mr & Mrs Fox is the latest one I’ve tried that’s highly recommended. Mr & Mrs Fox’s New HK$140 Brunch Set What is an epic brunch? A brunch meal that makes you feel uncomfortably full afterwards. You’d irresistibly eat too much because there are just too many attractive choices on the table. It has to be at least 3 courses and include desserts. (Did I get the definition right? Let me know yours!) For …

A Young Crowd’s Getaway in Phuket

If you’re not visiting the handful of well known luxury resorts as a couple or a family, Phuket can seem like an outdated holiday destination. As could Koh Samui. Most would agree that Patong is way beyond a developed tourist area. Tourists may have once wanted to be close to the action and find a hotel near Patong beach, but the overwhelming number of foreigners and accompanying tourist traps has made this beach strip become a bit of a turn off. Even the less trodded Surin beach has almost been equally invaded by an unpleasant number of tourists. I stayed at The Naka Phuket in 2014. Because it was secluded from the tourist action, it was amazing, beautiful and unforgettable – but only if you’re a couple looking for a lazy experience. On the other hand, it would’ve been an awkwardly boring experience with my friends. Dream Phuket Hotel & Spa / Dream Beach Club The newly opened Dream Phuket Hotel & Spa which is located in Cheong Tale (further north from Patong and Surin) became our hotel choice. Even if you don’t end up staying in …

DvF Afternoon Tea at Cafe Gray Deluxe: A Collaboration Not to Be Missed

Cafe Gray Deluxe has always been high on my list of favourite restaurants. The food is as delicious as its view over Hong Kong harbour is beautiful – and that combination is rare. Heading into the restaurant with high expectations, their latest Diane von Furstenberg (DvF) “Fortuna” Afternoon Tea set still managed to impress me all over again. Cafe Gray often does collaboration with the most famous luxury brands – they did it with Elie Saab and Diptyque last year. Now I’m feeling extremely gutted for not trying it back then. The latest tea set collaboration is designed in line with DvF’s spring collection and the colours are so inviting and cheerful. It’s an afternoon tea that will promise perfect ambience and all things aesthetic. But more importantly, the set features a good variety of sweets and savouries. The food is among my favourite of tea sets I’ve tried in Hong Kong! Perfect scones and clotted cream Scones and clotted cream are the top most important components of any afternoon tea set (to me) and the …
