Italian pizzeria Vincenzo Capuano, ranked 13th in the 2025 Global 50 Top Artisan Pizza list and crowned “Modern Pizza” world champion in 2022, has launched its second Asian branch in Hong Kong’s Wan Chai district. Located along Lee Tung Avenue, the new outpost brings authentic Neapolitan pizza—crafted with a proprietary flour blend and a 36-hour fermentation process—to local diners eager for a taste of the championship-winning crust.
World-Renowned Pizza Arrives in Hong Kong
Founded in Naples, Vincenzo Capuano now operates more than 30 outlets across Italy, Amsterdam, Singapore, and beyond. The Hong Kong venue, occupying a double-level space at G04-05 and 1F01A on 200 Queen’s Road East, seats 80 guests between indoor and outdoor areas. It marks the brand’s second Asian location, following its Singapore flagship.
The pizzeria’s acclaim stems from its meticulous dough-making technique. Using Nuvola Super flour—a fine, high-protein Italian blend—the team kneads the dough and lets it rest for 36 hours before baking at high temperatures. The result is a crispy yet airy crust that charrs slightly, yielding the signature “leopard-spotted” rim prized by Neapolitan pizza purists. Each pie is served with a golden scissors for diners to cut their own slices, a trademark flourish that has become a social-media favorite.
What to Order at Vincenzo Capuano Wan Chai
The Hong Kong menu blends classic family recipes with contemporary innovations. A standout is the Provola e Peppa (HK$208), the restaurant’s world-champion pizza. It features smoked semi-soft provola cheese, hand-crushed San Marzano tomatoes, and a custom-blend of peppercorns that deliver a gentle heat.
Other signature offerings include:
- Abbraccio e Mamma (HK$238) – a tribute to the chef’s grandfather, loaded with traditional meatballs, Grana Padano fondue, and mozzarella.
- Tetti Illuminati (HK$238) – topped with IGP-certified cured pork sausage, pistachio cream, fresh buffalo mozzarella, and aged pecorino.
- Don Vincenzo (HK$238), Don Egidio (HK$248), and Napolitudine (HK$248) – each highlighting different layers of Neapolitan flavor, from classic margherita to hearty ragù.
Beyond pizza, the kitchen serves pasta, antipasti, and desserts. A limited-edition pizza created exclusively for Hong Kong is also in the works, according to the team.
Hong Kong’s Thriving Pizza Scene
Vincenzo Capuano’s arrival deepens the city’s already competitive artisan pizza landscape. Hong Kong now boasts four pizzerias on the global 50 Top Artisan Pizza ranking: Vincenzo Capuano (Wan Chai), BACI Trattoria · Bar (Central), Little Napoli (Wan Chai), and Vesu Pizza Bar (Tsim Sha Tsui). The recognition underscores a growing appetite for high-quality, wood-fired pies here.
