Hong Kong Dining Groups Launch Free Study Havens for DSE Students

As the 2026 Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) examinations approach, major hospitality and dining groups are stepping up to support the city’s youth. Led by the KABU Group and Regal Hotels, several popular venues are pivoting their operations to provide students with a comfortable environment to prepare for their exams, complete with complimentary refreshments and exclusive incentives.

Starting immediately and running through May 5, three of KABU’s flagship brands—Gyu-Kaku Buffet, Mou Mou Club, and Hao Jia Taiwanese Hot Pot—are transforming designated locations into dedicated “Support Stations.” Under this initiative, students who present an original 2026 DSE admission form can enjoy three hours of free seating and unlimited beverages on weekdays between 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM. This offer aimed at providing a cool, spacious alternative to crowded public libraries during the final revision sprint.

The support extends beyond temporary study spaces. KABU has teased a secondary phase of rewards titled the “KABU Support Team” campaign. Top-performing students can look forward to the “5** Scholar Card,” which includes a celebratory banquet and cash scholarships valued at up to HK$10,000. Furthermore, the group is collaborating with Hong Kong Airlines to offer round-trip flight tickets and graduation trip discount codes, rewarding the hard work of the graduating class once the examination period concludes.

Participating Study Station Locations

Students can access these facilities at various convenient hubs across the territory:

  • Gyu-Kaku Buffet: Available at prominent malls including Grand Plaza (Mong Kok), Mira Place (Tsim Sha Tsui), Lee Tung Avenue (Wan Chai), Yue Man Square (Kwun Tong), Metroplaza (Kwai Fong), and Lucky Plaza (Shatin).
  • Mou Mou Club: Stations are located at MOKO (Mong Kok), V Walk (Sham Shui Po), Domain (Yau Tong), Wong Tai Sin Centre North, Island Resort Mall (Siu Sai Wan), and Ma On Shan Plaza.
  • Hao Jia Taiwanese Hot Pot: The Langham Place (Mong Kok) branch will also host students during the designated weekday hours.

Regal Hotels Joins the Academic Support Movement

In a similar vein, Regal Hotels has opened three of its restaurant spaces in Causeway Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Shatin to all students with a valid ID, not limited to DSE candidates. Open daily from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM until May 5, venues such as Café Rivoli at Regal Hongkong Hotel and Café Allegro at Regal Kowloon Hotel provide a premium study environment.

The hotel group’s amenities go a step further by offering complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, charging ports, and free self-service coffee and herbal tea. To ensure physical well-being, students are also treated to afternoon snacks, including cookies and seasonal wellness soups designed to boost concentration and immunity during the high-stress season.

These initiatives represent a growing trend of corporate social responsibility within Hong Kong’s food and beverage industry. By converting underutilized afternoon hours into community resources, these establishments are fostering a supportive atmosphere for the next generation of professionals. With the first written DSE paper scheduled for April 8, these “study stations” provide a much-needed sanctuary for students aiming for academic success.
