McDonald’s x G-DRAGON “ICON × ICON” Collab Drops in Hong Kong with Korean-Approved Menu Twists

Hong Kong’s favourite fast-food chain is turning up the K-pop heat. McDonald’s has teamed up with global superstar G-DRAGON for a limited-time “ICON × ICON” collaboration, bringing exclusive Korean flavours, a fully themed flagship store, and limited-edition merchandise to the city.

Fresh off being voted Hong Kong’s “Most Loved Fast-Food Chain” again, McDonald’s is doubling down on its reputation for bold partnerships. From September, the brand has transformed its Admiralty flagship outlet into a G-DRAGON pilgrimage site, launched street-art graffiti walls across the city, and introduced a menu developed in direct sync with McDonald’s Korea.

A Flagship Transformed: The Admiralty Themed Store

Located at the Admiralty Centre, the branch—one of the highest-footfall McDonald’s in the world—has been reborn as a fully immersive fan zone. The signature glass entrance now features G-DRAGON’s portrait, his PEACEMINUSONE label’s iconic daisy motif, and a bespoke red heart-shaped “MCD” logo designed specifically for this collaboration.

Inside, fans can find a recreation of the Korean promotional set, complete with faux grass, daisy installations, and park benches. There are also photo-ready mirrors and a 22-metre interactive LED screen playing the campaign film on loop. For fans, it is a multi-sensory, can’t-help-but-Insta moment; for McDonald’s, it’s a calculated move to turn a meal into a memory.

Graffiti Walls Hit the Streets

The campaign’s energy extends beyond the flagship store. Two outdoor locations—40 Gough Street in Central and the Kwun Tong Promenade activity space—have been fitted with bold, street-style graffiti walls. These urban canvases blend the classic daisy iconography with the red heart “MCD” emblem, giving fans in different parts of the city their own chance to join the “hallyu” wave without stepping onto the MTR to Admiralty.

The Menu: Korea-Developed, Korea-Approved

Leading the charge is the star of the show—the Korean Spicy Butter Crispy Chicken Burger. Featuring a large, crackling chicken fillet developed in collaboration with McDonald’s Korea, it’s coated in a proprietary sauce that fuses the fire of gochujang-style chilli with the richness of butter. Topped with a slice of pineapple and crisp romaine lettuce, it balances sweet, savoury, and spicy in every bite.

Other highlights include:

  • Korean Spicy Butter Dip for Chicken McNuggets—a mellow, buttery heat designed to elevate a classic.
  • Korean Sweet Chilli Fried Chicken—golden, crisp, and finished with a sticky, piquant glaze.
  • Jeju Tangerine Coconut Jelly Soda—a refreshing citrusy sparkler inspired by Korea’s famous tangerine harvest.
  • Shake Shake Fries (Korean BBQ flavour) —a tangy, smoky seasoning mix that recreates the taste of Korean BBQ.
  • Salted Caramel Mini Twists—imported straight from Korea, these bite-sized pastries offer a perfect balance of sweet and salty.
  • Sweet Heart OREO® McFlurry—a dessert featuring chocolate crumbs, a creamy vanilla base, and pink heart-shaped crisps, crafted for maximum photogenic appeal.

Collectibles and Limited Merch

App members who purchase selected sets will receive a random limited-edition collectible card. For those wanting more, the collaboration also introduces PEACEMINUSONE-branded accessories, including a retro-style cap, metal pin set, and a tote bag—designed to sell out fast.

A New Benchmark for Regional Collaborations

This isn’t just a menu drop; it’s a logistical milestone. By syncing the launch across 13 Asian markets, McDonald’s has managed to generate simultaneous global hype while reinforcing the appeal of its local branding. The inclusion of Korea’s traditional “Jang” culture in the sauce development adds an authentic layer of depth that goes beyond gimmickry. For Hong Kong diners, the message is clear: hallyu culture isn’t just coming to town—it’s here to eat.
