MegaBox Unveils Rooftop Haven MEGA SKY and Stylish Korean Eatery GOKSU

MegaBox in Kowloon Bay has opened a sprawling 30,000-square-foot rooftop garden called MEGA SKY on its 18th floor, offering 270-degree views of East Kowloon and Victoria Harbour, alongside the debut of modern Korean dining bar GOKSU. The new attractions, both launched on June 30, aim to turn the shopping mall’s top level into a destination for panoramic relaxation, free nightly entertainment, and sophisticated Korean cuisine.

A New Sky-High Sanctuary in Kowloon Bay

Situated atop the MegaBox complex, MEGA SKY is a glass-enclosed rooftop garden that replaces what was previously a less accessible space. The venue now features floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing visitors to soak in uninterrupted vistas of the East Kowloon skyline and the harbour beyond. Daytime brings crisp city views; at night, the glittering skyline transforms the space into an urban retreat.

The garden is free for all visitors and is designed for leisurely strolls, photo opportunities, and casual gatherings. The open-air layout encourages guests to linger, whether during a lunch break or an evening out.

Free Nightly Spectacles

From 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM each evening, MEGA SKY hosts two outdoor shows that blend light, sound, and nature. The first, a “Digital Aquarium”, projects life-sized whales, sea turtles, manta rays, and jellyfish onto the garden’s surfaces, accompanied by a curated soundtrack. The second is a floral light display, where colourful projections dance among real flower installations, creating an immersive, dreamlike atmosphere. Show timings may vary due to weather or special events.

For those who want to take home a memento, Mega Club members can participate in a photo challenge: snap a picture at MEGA SKY, upload it to social media, and show any electronic payment receipt from a same-day purchase at MegaBox. In return, they receive a themed postcard and a limited-edition cat- or dog-shaped gift. Membership is free, and redemption takes place on L18 while supplies last.

GOKSU: Where Hanok Meets Modern Dining

On the same floor, GOKSU opened its doors as a new Korean dining concept that reimagines traditional flavours through a contemporary lens. The restaurant’s design draws from “Contemporary Hanok Aesthetics”—think rustic wood, stone, and courtyard motifs—blended with sleek modern lines. An outdoor terrace offers alfresco seating with views of the Kowloon East skyline and the distant Kai Tak area, making it an ideal spot for evening drinks.

The menu fuses classic Korean cooking techniques with refined presentation and premium ingredients. Standout dishes include:

  • Axe-grilled beef rib — a dramatic, shareable cut cooked over charcoal
  • Foie gras stone pot rice — rich, melt-in-the-mouth foie gras layered over traditional bibimbap, absorbing the fat into every grain
  • Sea urchin gimbap — delicate rolls packed with fresh uni
  • Strawberry makgeolli slushie — a photogenic pink frozen cocktail that’s a visual and palate pleaser

GOKSU positions itself as a high-end Korean izakaya, offering a hidden-gem atmosphere perfect for date nights, group dinners, or solo indulgence.

Exclusive Perks for Mega Club Members

To celebrate the opening, Mega Club members can enjoy a 15% discount on à la carte dinner orders from now until July 31. Every member who dines at GOKSU during this promotional period will also receive a complimentary strawberry makgeolli with any purchase. Registration for Mega Club remains free.

The combination of MEGA SKY’s open-air leisure and GOKSU’s upscale dining signals a strategic upgrade for MegaBox, which has traditionally been known for family-oriented retail. With these new additions, the mall now offers a compelling evening destination that rivals waterfront venues in Tsim Sha Tsui and Central. Visitors looking for a relaxed night out with harbour views, creative Korean fare, and free light shows can now find it all under one roof—literally 18 floors up.
