Little Napoli, the Michelin-recognized Neapolitan pizzeria that won over Hong Kong diners since 2021, has reopened its doors in Wan Chai on December 10, bringing back its acclaimed artisan pizzas alongside new Mediterranean creations and a nostalgically styled space.
After closing its original Happy Valley location on October 4, leaving loyal fans disappointed, the restaurant has relocated to a larger venue in Wan Chai. Owner and chef Gavino Pilo, a native of Naples, Italy, has overseen every detail—from the handcrafted menu to the custom-made vintage-style floor tiles imported directly from Italy. The result is an atmosphere that transports guests to a small trattoria in southern Italy, where the aromas of wood-fired dough and fresh ingredients fill the air.
Authentic Neapolitan Craftsmanship
Pilo’s philosophy remains unchanged: use only premium ingredients sourced from his hometown and bake each pizza at 400 degrees Celsius in a traditional stone oven imported from Naples. This high-heat technique produces the signature charred, chewy crust and soft, airy interior that defines authentic Neapolitan pizza. The dough is so thin in the center—often just a few millimetres—that the restaurant encourages a specific folding method: cut the pizza into quarters and fold each slice to prevent toppings from spilling. Even the takeaway boxes include illustrated instructions for this proper eating technique.
New Menu Highlights
The new Wan Chai location introduces several exciting additions. One standout is the Pizza Portafoglio (Wallet Pizza) series, designed for on-the-go dining. These folded pizzas come in classic Margherita as well as two new creations: Contadina and Zingara. The Zingara, topped generously with Parma ham, has already drawn rave reviews from meat lovers.
Another newcomer is the Pizza Fritta (fried pizza) lineup, which includes the elongated Dondiego. Testers report it tastes surprisingly light—not greasy—and offers a satisfying crunch without the heavy oiliness typical of fried foods.
The traditional pizza menu still features beloved options, while new Neapolitan snacks provide additional variety. The Melanzane in Carrozza, a layered eggplant dish, has been described as unexpectedly fish-like in texture, leaving diners pleasantly surprised.
New item highlights:
- Pizza Portafoglio (Wallet Pizza) – Margherita, Contadina, Zingara
- Pizza Fritta – including Dondiego
- Neapolitan snacks – including Melanzane in Carrozza
